David Woosey

As a child, I was always able to draw, copying Walt Disney characters and even adverts. These were all using pencils.

When I was made redundant in 1999, I had a lot of time on my hands and during this time I started drawing again. This led to my family buying me art equipment. I experimented with Pastels and still drew and coloured cartoon characters.

In September 2014, with encouragement from my wife and a neighbour who was already a member of “Let’s Paint Together”, I joined the group. I was encouraged by the other members and this in turn gave me confidence to broaden my efforts. To date, I have used pencil, water colour, pastel and acrylic, the latter being my favourite due to its flexibility. As a result, I have produced a number of paintings in this medium, some of which are in this exhibition.

I was a late starter as far as painting goes, as I was 69 when I joined “Let’s Paint Together,” so it is never too late. If you have thought about painting/drawing, now is the time to start.

Just for information I do not sell my paintings online, but you can view them and discuss them with me at any exhibitions that the group hold.
