About us

Warboys Art Group was formed in the village over 50 years ago by Elaine English, under the name “Let’s paint together’. Over the years members have come and gone and numbers have fluctuated but there has always been a good number to keep the group running.

The difference between this group and others in the area is that the group is not one that runs courses, but rather provides a space and time for like minded artists to get together in a self supporting environment. We have visited exhibitions and shows as a group, and occasionally had outside location trips to a prearranged site to work. Unfortunately, Elaine passed away in the summer of 2023, but her legacy remains.

Exhibitions

Our efforts are shown to the general public in our annual Exhibition, where we display over 100 works by members. The quality and artistry are obvious judging by the number of drawings and paintings that are sold to visitors. Of course there is no need to offer your work for sale, and some members do not. Many of the artists also provide commission basis sales. Over the passed few years we have also run exhibitions at events held by other organisations and villages. It's always a challenge for our members to produce work to display, but all are up for the challenge ....and its does focus the mind!

Group Meetings

The group meets once a week on a Wednesday evening. We start at 7pm and end at 9pm. We meet (and hold our Exhibitions) at the Warboys Sorts and Social Club, Forge Way. Technically we have access to the room we use every Wednesday throughout the year. Occasionally we have a week’s break, but working on a full year, the club membership fees amount to less than £2.50 per week! Great value. The allocated room at the Club is large and well lit, and a good working space. As part of the deal with the Club, members also become Club members, and are eligible to use the facilities. That costs an additional £10 per annum.

Group Membership Fees

The first thing to say is that you do not need to live in Warboys to join this vibrant Group. Indeed, currently and historically artists from other villages and towns are and have been members. Our fees are curenttly set at the rate £10 per month.

We are aware that it is difficult when seeking to join a new group. Not knowing anyone and the added pressure of exposing your work to stranger can be very daunting. So we offer a chance for people thinking about joining our group to visit us, look at our work and chat to us...no need to bring your work or make a commitment to join, but take the opportunity to see if we are a group you would like to join.
